We bought this toy because it looked very similar to a toy my nephew (now 20 yrs old) still has and pulls out for my son to play with when we visit. Well, lets just say, they don't make them like they used to. This toy certainly won't be around for 20 years! While you'd think your kid could just open up the fire truck and play with the rescue set, its not like that at all, as you have to disassemble it to close it and then put it all back together to play with it. My 3 year old certainly won't be able to put it together. The bit where the car goes through the bill board doesn't work, as it doesn't really line up and the whole thing is just not that sturdy. If I'm going to spend [$] on a toy it should be sturdy at least! I did put it all together, and put all the stickers on (Beware: 1 hour to do so) and so I'll keep it. I know my son, being three, will think its cool.

my 2 grandsons (5 & 8) will play with this toy for hours - by themselves. I do not have to interact with them, they don't want me to. I have 2 of these so they can play on their own and use their imaginations.

I must specify that I have not actually seen this
in action yet because it was a gift for my 3year old cousin who is obsessed with all things automobile, but from what i have heard it was not to hard to put together and he has not put it down in about 2 weeks. apparently he made his parents put it together as soon as he saw it and has played with it everyday since!

Although the intial construction of this toy was tricky (I did it once before giving it as a gift...including putting on the huge amount of stickers), but after I knew how it worked, it wsn't too hard for my 4 year old son to figure it out. He loves this toy! He has spent many hours playing it with it. It was well worth the money...although the pieces aren't as sturdy as other toys, it has held up fine for us.

My son is 4 months shy of turning 3 and this toy is great for him already. The one biggest downside to this toy seems to be that it's quite difficult to find more "micro" cars to go with the set. My son lost 1 of the 5 cars almost immediately and I've looked all over online and can only find collector "mini" cars on [...]. The company that makes this toy does not have a contact email OR phone. Their address is in China. So they are of no help. It did take about 45 minutes to get all the sticker decals on the toy, which was annoying, but not a big deal. I also thought it would fold back into a firetruck without having to take much of it apart. I was wrong. MANY of the pieces have to come apart and be stored outside of the truck in order for it to fold up. So I just leave it out for a few days at a time and then will put it a way for a while as I don't want to put it together every time my son wants to play with it. It encourages quiet play, IMO, child has to sit and play gently with it. If much pressure is put on the ramps and such, they will fall off (easy to put them back on....not a big deal). I like how it requires them to be "somewhat careful". My almost 4 year old daughter has also had a lot of fun playing with it.

My 5 yr. old son was thrilled with this toy and continues to play with it frequently after his birthday. It's so easy to pack away, he does it himself as well as putting it together. We are very happy with it.
