As a retired school teacher I know how important it is for children to learn the math vocabulary at an early age. This is a wonderful activity for children to identify shapes and talk about the attributes that make the shapes alike and different. The very young child responds well to the bright colors and shapes.

I use this puzzle with my child with developmental disabilities. He's motivated by shapes so I can hide the pieces in different places to work on listening skills and vocabulary. He finds completing the puzzle reinforcing.

My little friend enjoyed learing the colors, shapes, and identifying the things under the shapes, as well as being able to easily put pieces in their place. However, once she figured out those areas, there was no way to expand on the use of the puzzle.
