My boys (4 and 2) love Bob the Builder, and I figured if these were Tonka, the quality would be excellent. The dump truck is very sturdy, but the dumping part is made of a very heavy metal, and the edges are borderline sharp. The crane was VERY difficult to work. I think my boys will get frustrated with it quickly, and the string gets all tangled around the part that turns it. The backhoe and bulldozer are cute because the moving parts can be controlled by little levers to be positioned at various angles (in other words, it's multi-part, realistic moving action, not just up and down), but the joint in the backhoe's arm seems a bit flimsy and I can it see it cracking or breaking from regular play, and I am definitely concerned if it gets stepped on. I might recommend this set if it was $20 or less, but it was [$] with shipping, and I think that's overpriced for what I got. I think it would be better for a 7 or 8 year old who would understand better how to manipulate the moving parts and be more patient with them. I definitely don't think the crane and backhoe are appropriate for three-year-olds like the description states.

Kids played with them in the house and on the sand and we got no complaints. Good enough for me.

Not as large as pictures portray. Not as sturdy as the German made ones.
